Jason Collins
Jason Collins is a proud product of the public school system in California, where he received his early education, and the New York public school system where he completed all of his upper education. He is enthusiastic to be a member of this public institution’s faculty. He received his BA in Comparative Literature, Italian specialization, from City College New York, CUNY. He completed the work for a second BA in Italian at Hunter College, CUNY, before transferring to The Graduate Center, CUNY, for a combined MA/PhD in Comparative Literature with specializations in Italian, Portuguese, English, and Latin. He completed his dissertation with Drs. Paolo Fasoli, Andre Aciman, and Herman Haller on a topic intersecting Italian Dialectology, Surrealism, and Genre Studies. He began his teaching career at City College New York, teaching Humanities, and Pace University, teaching Italian and Portuguese. He has attended and presented research papers at numerous conferences and has published articles for various academic journals. His research interests include Italian Dialectology and Sociolinguistics; 20th Century Italian Literature with a focus on Antonio Gramsci, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Elsa Morante; the Ventennio; Italian, Brazilian, and Portuguese Surrealism; and Genre Studies.
