Silvia Tiboni-Craft
Silvia Tiboni-Craft is an Adjunct Lecturer in Italian at the University of Tennessee. She is also a Full Teaching Professor of Italian at Wake Forest University, specializing in 19th- and 20th-century Italian women writers, feminist theory, and the intersection of literature with Mad and Disability Studies.She earned her BA and MA in Italian Literature from the Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo, and her PhD in Italian from Rutgers University with a dissertation on Italian women writers. Her current research explores how female authors depict the domestic spaces in which women were historically confined.At Wake Forest, Silvia has taught a wide range of courses in Italian language, culture, and literature, as well as the history of mental health in film and fiction. She has led numerous undergraduate research projects, created vibrant extracurricular programs that strengthen campus and community connections, and advises two student organizations: the Italian Honor Society and the NIAF on Campus Fellowship Program.Silvia is also a Faculty Fellow (Senior Fellow since 2023), where she manages budgets, coordinates academic programming for first-year students, and provides mentorship. She currently serves on the executive committee of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) as member-at-large.Her work has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Omicron Delta Kappa Award (2018), the Thrive Intellectual Dimension Award (2022), and the Excellence in Advising Award (2025).
