Portuguese is one of the languages that is included in the US Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program, and UTK has an office dedicated to help you apply for the CLS, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. There, you can also learn about and apply for the Fulbright US Student Program, the largest US international exchange program providing opportunities for students to undertake year-long undergraduate and graduate research, courses, art projects, and teaching positions in more than 140 countries, including Brazil. The experienced faculty in the Portuguese Program are here to support you as you learn about the language, the history, the culture, and the geopolitical characteristics of countries where Portuguese is spoken.
