Major in German
Majors in World Languages and Cultures with a concentration in German should carefully prepare their programs in consultation with a departmental faculty advisor. The major consists of at least 30 hours of German in courses numbered above 200, with at least 6 hours from GERM 411, GERM 412, GERM 419, GERM 433, GERM 434, GERM 455, or GERM 485. Two courses from GERM 321, GERM 322, GERM 324*, GERM 325, and GERM 326 are required. With the approval of the faculty advisor, the student may count up to 3 hours of coursework taken outside of German towards the WLC major with a German concentration (for example: World Languages and Cultures, History, Geography, Musicology, Philosophy, Art History, Religious Studies, Cinema Studies). In order to graduate, majors will be required to take a proficiency test in German by registering for WLC 495 (0 credit hours).
