The Korean Program now offers a Conversational Language Certificate for students who wish to develop and demonstrate communicative world language skills and intercultural competence.
The Korean Program now offers a Conversational Language Certificate for students who wish to develop and demonstrate communicative world language skills and intercultural competence. Employers in business, education, healthcare, and technology increasingly realize the advantages of world language skills. Earning these certificates will be a clear credential on their transcript to prove their world language skills.
Students seeking admission to the Undergraduate Certificate must meet the admissions standards established by the Undergraduate Council. No grades below C are acceptable for students wishing to receive the certificate.
Conversational Korean Certificate (11 credits)
Complete (8 credits):
- KORE 211 – Intermediate Korean I
- KORE 212 – Intermediate Korean II
Choose one course (3-credits)
- ASST 301 – South Asian Cinema: Bollywood and Beyond
- ASST 374* – Emerging Landscapes of East Asia
- CHIN 430 – Women in China
- CHIN 469 – Gender and Sexuality in Chinese Cinema
- JAPA 315 – Asian Film
- KORE 230 – Korean Culture
- KORE 330 – Korean Media and Culture
- Each course must be completed with a grade of C or better.
- At least 6 credit hours must be taken at UT.
- At least 3 credit hours must be unique to this certificate and not overlap with language requirements, another major, minor, or certificate. Applications to declare this certificate will be made through the WLC Department’s Undergraduate Studies Office and reviewed by the Program Chair.
